The term "Rule of 5" or "5-hour rule" is frequently credited to Benjamin Franklin . The 5-hour rule is based on the idea that one should set aside 1 hour each day on weekday without compromising the weekends . This 1 hour makes it 5 hour per week for activities that are specifically aimed at learning or improving oneself. Setting aside 1 hour for reading, research, reflection, and learning trains us to be mindful for that hour and to be focused, This sense of control helps with personal and professional development over time.
Total covered hours will be :
1 Hour -Every Weekday
5 Hours -Every Week
260 Hours -Every Year
The five-hour rule covers four essential tasks:
Reading: Benjamin Franklin was a voracious reader and a firm believer in the value of books for education. He suggests to read widely on many topics in order to increase knowledge and understanding.
Reflection: A key component of learning is reflection, which involves thinking back on one's experiences and discoveries. Every day, we should take some time to reflect and write about our ideas, observations, and life lessons.
Experimentation :Everyone should spend time carrying out experiments and investigating fresh concepts, which allows us to significantly advance a number of sectors.
Mentoring: Getting a Mentor in the area that you seek to learn would save you many hours and provides a right direction toward your goal . Explore information and personal development through talks with others, particularly specialists and intellectuals.
It is also recommended to reflect on below five questions everyday to keep the rhythm of learning
What good shall I do this day?
What good have I done today?
What did I learn today?
What mistakes have I made today?
What shall I do better tomorrow?
These questions are aimed to focus on self-improvement, productivity, and moral development. The Rule of 5 encourage us to set goals, evaluate daily actions, and make adjustments to ensure continuous progress. Happy Learning :)
